Landfill Operation

Last modified: January 16, 2007 - 4:00 PM

Council operates one landfill at Short Street, Dungog.

This is a solid waste Class 2 licenced facility that is open and manned on Thursday, Friday and Monday from 8.00 am till 5.00 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 8.00 am until 12.00 midday. The landfill is closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday and on Christmas and New Years Day each year.

The facility accepts most solid waste including green waste and asbestos (see below for conditions). Tip fees are charged on all waste and unsorted recyclable material. Fees do not apply to ferrous and non ferrous metals, clean cardboard and paper and sorted domestic recyclable containers.

Additional services provided at the landfill include a Drummuster facility for clean empty veterinary and farm chemical containers, a waste oil collection service, domestic recycling, cardboard/paper collection, ferrous and non ferrous metals, and a second hand shop. Further enquiries can be directed to Council on 4995 7777 or to the landfill on 4992 1634.
