Vacant Holdings - Published: 06 Sep 2006

Introduction

The Dungog Local Environmental Plan 2006 includes a new type of development opportunity known as a Vacant Holding. Vacant Holdings were established to assist people who own a parcel of land in rural zone that have an area under the 60 hectare minimum lot size where no dwelling currently exists.  Essentially, Vacant Holdings are rural parcels of land with areas under 60 hectares in one ownership that do not have an entitlement to build a dwelling house. Under the Vacant Holdings provisions - the construction of a dwelling may be considered if it is demonstrated that the lot is suitable and capable of sustaining a dwelling house.
