The purpose of the Contaminated Land Policy is to provide a framework for Council to appropriately manage
land contamination through the land use planning process, and in doing so, ensure Council acts in “good faith”
within its legislative obligations.
The Policy sets out the preferred practice of Council Officers in relation to:
- Identifying, evaluating and managing contaminated land through the land use planning process
- Recording, managing and disclosing contaminated land information
- Reporting contamination to the NSW EPA
- Preventing or minimising the potential for contamination.
It is not the intent of this Policy that an act or omission of any Officer of the Council shall be called into question
or held to be invalid on the grounds of failure to comply with this Policy.
