Message from the Mayor - 8 January 2021

Welcome, everyone, to another fantastic year here in Dungog Shire.

While 2020 certainly had its fair share of challenges, I am proud of the way we were able to work together and achieve some wonderful outcomes for our shire, and I’m looking forward to doing it all again this year.

Whether you travelled away or spent your holiday at home, I hope you all had a happy, safe festive season.

Over the break, it was wonderful to see so many locals and holidaymakers flocking to our local facilities, shops and eateries.

Last year was a really tough one for small business, and while we love to receive holidaymakers to our beautiful shire at this time, we want to ensure everyone’s health and safety is maintained.

Whether you’re a local or a visitor, please make sure you are following the COVID-Safe Plans at all of our local businesses and venues.

You should also provide them with your contact details each time you visit, to ensure the hard-working NSW Health teams can get in touch with you quickly and easily if needed.

I’d also ask that everyone continue to get tested even with the mildest of symptoms, and wear a face mask when indoors or wherever you can’t social distance adequately.

Lastly, you would all know that weather hasn’t been particularly kind to us lately, and I’d like to assure you that council is aware of the impact this may have had on our road surfaces.

Council’s teams are monitoring the situation and will endeavour to complete the necessary repair works as soon as conditions allow.

As always, I encourage residents to get in touch with me to discuss any issues, activities or events happening in our shire.

You can contact me by phone on 4995 7777, or by email on

Wishing you all a happy and prosperous start to 2021,
