Waste & Recycling FAQs
Why was my bin missed?
The most common reasons for a missed collection include:
- Late Placement: Bins must be at the kerbside by 6:00 AM.
- Obstructions: Cars parked too close, low-hanging branches, or power poles blocking the truck's arm.
- Contamination: If the driver identifies incorrect items in the bin, it may be tagged and left for safety or processing reasons.
What goes in which bin?
Using the correct bin ensures that our waste is diverted from landfills and processed into high-quality compost or recycled materials.

Why did I get a "Feedback Sticker" on my bin?
If you find a sticker or tag on your bin, it usually means the driver noticed contamination (the wrong items in the bin). Please remove the offending items and contact JR Richards to arrange a re-collection or wait until your next scheduled service.
My bin is broken. How do I get a new one?
Council provides repairs for lids and wheels free of charge through our contractor JR Richards. If the bin body is split or stolen, please contact JR Richards to request a replacement.

What should I do with "Problem Waste" (Batteries/Chemicals)?
These items should never go in your kerbside bins as they can cause fires in the collection trucks.
